Description
Pokemon Too Realistic is an intense Pokémon Emerald ROM hack that pushes survival mechanics to the extreme, making for a brutal and unforgiving adventure. This version introduces elements of harsh realism, where Pokémon face life-threatening challenges such as permadeath, aging, hunger, and environmental factors. Players are forced to carefully manage their team’s health and well-being, with features like no HUD or summary screen making it difficult to track status at a glance. Abilities play a critical role in keeping track of your Pokémon’s condition, while random weather and day-night cycles bring constant unpredictability.
Unique to this hack is the introduction of long-term conditions such as Pokémon STDs and rabies (Pokérus), which permanently affect Pokémon stats and life expectancy. Pokémon now have natural life spans that can end due to age, hunger, or even overuse of items like berries and vitamins. Players must also navigate the consequences of their Pokémon’s emotional states, with friendship levels influencing obedience and behavior, especially when left in the PC for too long. The hack further challenges players by removing conveniences like the move Fly and limiting access to healing, making each decision and every battle a high-stakes encounter.
With all these changes, Pokemon Too Realistic creates a punishing, survival-focused experience that forces players to adapt to an ever-present danger.
Important
The hack has not been fully tested, so we don’t know if it’s beatable. Norman is probably a nightmare.

Official Gameplay
Features
- Permadeath: Pokémon die permanently if their HP reaches 0.
- No HUD/Summary Screen: The usual in-game information is hidden; only abilities display a Pokémon’s health status.
- Random Weather & Day/Night Cycles: Adds unpredictability to the game environment.
- Sped-Up Clock: Time moves faster, affecting events and Pokémon.
- Hunger System: Pokémon die from hunger if not replenished with food. Leftovers prevent this.
- Aging Mechanic: Pokémon age and die based on their species’ lifespan.
- Toxicity: Pokémon can overdose on medicines, berries, or vitamins, leading to negative effects.
- Pokémon can contract permanent conditions like STDs or Pokérus (Rabies), which affect stats, spread to others, and reduce life expectancy.
- Weaker Pokémon are more likely to flinch in battle.
- Pokémon have different sleep schedules depending on the species.
- Healing costs 500 per Pokémon.
- A Pokémon’s obedience depends on friendship, which declines when stored in the PC.
- All Pokémon can become attracted to each other.
- Crashing into a wall on a Mach Bike at full speed kills the first Pokémon in your party.
- Soda makes Pokémon more hungry when consumed.
